Past, Present and Future |
|
PAST: Lutheran Church of the Cross is a self-supporting congregation serving the Port Charlotte / Punta Gorda Community. Our first service was held on July 4, 1982. After officially organizing the name Lutheran Church of the Cross was chosen. The congregation is a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
PRESENT: The Lord has graciously expanded our mission and ministry. We now have 11.2 acres of campus on which is the original parsonage, the Sanctuary and the newly dedicated state-of-the-art Fellowship and Ministry Center.
FUTURE: The Congregation has adopted a four-point ministry emphasis. Christian Education, Senior Ministry, Evangelism/Outreach and Enriching Worship all have Ad Hoc committees exploring how these areas of ministry can be furthered. We have also unveiled one POSSIBILITY of a Master Plan for land use and future expansion of ministry. The plan consists of a Monument Cross tower and park, a five story 90-unit Adult Congregate Living Facility (ACLF), a 2-story education building with gymnasium and multiple classrooms, an outdoor amphitheater, outdoor sporting fields and room for future expansion. |
